William John Watson McAULEY - Update Nov 19

The good "Captain" William John Watson McAuley is a Toorak socialite who continues to be a medals fraud, and adds to his deceit by wearing a prestigious Returned from Active Service Badge (RASB).

As shown in our original report McAuley's service was minimal. His "earning" of the RASB relates to him trundling off for a few days, without authorization, to East Timor during the war to do some pretend work. He then finagled some medals from Honours and Awards, but soon had to return them.

"McAuley was incorrectly awarded a Australian Active Service Medal (AASM) with East Timor clasp on schedule 242/04 – he did not qualify as he was a visitor, and he had not completed 30 days in loc. He was placed on the cancellation list on schedule 287/05, and he was ordered to return the medal (which he did on 10 Feb 2005).

McAuley obviously has self esteem problems with the belief that he will earn social points if he uses the title "Captain" and wears medals and badges he has not earned.

McAuley is an ex private "Schoolboy" who has inherited wealth and has had an easy ride through life, perhaps he believes that like aristocrats of old, his money will provide for his success in society rather than hard work.

Most of his society set, now know of his esteem problems and go with the flow, however ex service people who have had to earn, and not purchase medals and badges will not tolerate his behaviour.

William John Watson McAuley, was a commissioned officer in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) from 13th January 1976 until the 17th September 1976.  Prior to that, he served part time, from April until October 1970 with the Army in the Citizens Military Forces.

He again joined the part time Army (then known as the Army Reserve) in 1982. Having served for eight months as a Navy Lieutenant, he transferred as an Army Reserve Captain into the Royal Australian Engineers and served almost his entire career with 6 Engineer Group and 22 Construction Regiment. Since enlistment in 1982 McAuley has never fully qualified for the rank of Captain. His service over 25 years was often broken and there are large periods of inactivity. In the early part of his career, he was in the Supplementary Reserve and only required to offer two weeks service each year. He was absent in some years and did not give continuous service.

McAuley is conscious of his niche` in society and likes to flog his Navy and Military affiliations.  Until recent times McAuley was a member of the prestigious Royal Society of Victoria where he had been registered as  Capt. W.J.W. McAuley, BSc, MScp, KCT(Scot), KCSt.J, RFD, JP, FRGS, FAIE.  As you will read, McAuley has no entitlement to the rank of Captain (retired) and no entitlement to the post nominals of RFD and JP.  KCT(Scot) and KCSt.J are pseudo self endowed Knighthoods of dubious quality.

What is our “beef” with McAuley?

McAuley insists on being addressed as "Captain", but does not put (Retired) after his name in correspondence. He talks about his naval career, thus giving people the impression he is a navy captain rather than an army captain. His lawyer recently sent a letter to the Royal Society of Victoria demanding that he be called Captain. As proof of his entitlement to be so addressed, the lawyer attached a letter which, according to the lawyer, came from the "Chief of Army, General Kim Isaacs". In fact it was from Ms Kim Isaacs, Chief of Staff of Warren Snowden, Minister for Defence. We believe that this was a deliberate attempt at fraud, rather than a silly mistake.

Only Army Officers of the Rank of substantive Major and above are allowed to retain their rank as a title following the cessation of their commission.  No Politician, Politicians Chief of Staff or Army General has the authority to change that regulation.  It is also a fact that McAuley did not complete his qualifications for the Army rank of Captain and therefore his substantive rank was Lieutenant and in no way entitled to use the title of “Captain” after retirement.

The Army finally got thoroughly sick of McAuley and terminated his commission.  At the time of proceeding with his dismissal McAuley attempted to coerce his superior officers into promoting him to Major on the basis that if that happened “he would go quietly” Military authorities treated this demand with contempt.

McAuley is an “Old boy” of Scotch College in Melbourne. In the Scotch College Newsletter of December 1997 McAuley’s service was listed as follows:

“Lieutenant Bill McAuley joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1970. He was commissioned on the General List in Executive Branch and served in Her Majesty's Australian ships Vampire, Adroit and Supply. While with HMAS Supply, he took part in the Australian Bicentennial celebrations in the United States before his resignation in late 1978. He currently serves in the Australian Army Reserve as a captain in the Royal Australian Engineers. He installed the Royal Australian Navy Ensign he presented to Scotch.”

This report can be read in full here:   http://www.scotch.vic.edu.au/Gscot/GSdec97/P16Rem.htm

McAuley did not serve for eight years as reported he served for a less than auspicious, eight months, until he resigned his RAN commission. McAuley is also lying about serving as crew on the fighting ships HMAS Vampire and HMAS Adroit; in fact he was never listed as “crew” on any Navy ship at any time.

Here is detail of his full Navy service

The only “at sea” posting he had, was aboard HMAS Supply “Under Training” from 4 Jun 1976 to 9 Aug 1976. His other postings during his eight month career were, HMAS PENGUIN, HMAS WATSON AND HMAS CERBERUS these are all shore postings. Note that whilst he was on HMAS Supply he was listed as “Under Training”.  Speaking of training McAuley failed the two courses relevant to his Navy employment. Here are his course results

Note that McAuley failed a Junior Officer’s Administration Course and an Instructor Officer Course. Considering his occupation at the time it is pleasing to note he passed “Swimming” and a couple of other “impossible to fail” courses.

McAuley also “pulled” the Jordan manoeuvre (See Jordanhttp://www.anzmi.net/jordan/jordan.html)

Read this extract from a report about McAuley:

“During the ADF deployment to East Timor Bill got a lift to Dili through uncertain means and apparently appeared there in uniform. Bill tried to Redress the fact that he had not received his Active Service Medal and East Timor clasp. The record shows that Bill was never on the list of Deployed Members, he was at best a visitor for a period of about three days. The claim that he was there at the behest of the Commander Land Command Engineers (Colonel xxxxxx at that time) has never been supported. In Bill's claim I read the reports that were to justify his 'deployment'. The reports were high school geography coverage on the general terrain and water supply of the island. Any reasonable atlas of the area would I believe provide more detail and accuracy that I found in these reports."

Even though McAuley “appeared” in East Timor pretending to have been sent there, he had the temerity to apply for a Defence Housing Loan on the basis of his three days East Timor unofficial service.  When he was “knocked back” by Defence Housing he lodged a complaint through the Australian Peacekeepers and Peacemakers Veterans’ Association, (APPVA) who included McAuley’s false claim to an Australian Government Senate Committee hearing:

This is what was said about McAuley by the APPVA

Submission to the Senate Hearing Committee of Australia’s Involvement in Peacekeeping Operations dated 20 March 2007.

"Recordkeeping of personnel movements

23.19 The APPVA also identified a situation, which it considered as not isolated, where a specialist performing a specific task in an area classified as warlike service was not eligible for relevant benefits.18 It cited the case of Captain McAuley, who has been denied an ADF entitlement of a subsidised housing loan under the ADF Home Loan Scheme.19 He was an active reservist who conducted a risk assessment of a water supply for INTERFET troops and provided geological advice about a section of damaged road. The classification of his trip is central to the dispute between him and Defence. Defence understands that he was classified as a visitor and not ’force assigned, which means that he is not deemed eligible to access benefits to those recognised as providing operational service in East Timor’."

Further reports from senior Army management describe McAuley as follows:

“He is a bully when it comes to dealing with women and those he can fool with his airs of superiority. He craves attention and desperately wants to be a Major (the lowest rank he would be entitled to use followed by (rtd)), and any other post nominal he can confer upon himself.

he was a JP in the state of Victoria, his address in Victoria was that of a friend as Defence records showed him living in southern NSW. The issue here is that Victorian JPs have to actually live in Victoria. I understand that Bill is no longer listed as a JP by the Attorney General's Department. As he is no longer a serving member he is not entitled to call himself Captain or CAPT (rtd) which would suggest CAPT RAN. He is not entitled to wear medal or claim the post nominal RFD, if he does he is a fraud and breaking the law”.

The photograph below shows McAuley all done up as an Army Captain and being named Captain McAuley at a Royal Societies of Australia Dinner on the 2 February 2008.  The caption with the photograph says Capt Bill McAuley RSV and President RSA.   The term RSV refers to him being President of the Royal Society Victoria and RSA is the Royal Societies of Australia. McAuley is no longer a member of the RSV as he has been expelled following allegations of harassment and bringing the Society into disrepute.

It is of interest to note that McAuley set up and registered the Royal Societies of Australia (RSA), then just like an African General announced himself as President for life. The RSA is a doomed organization because of its undemocratic nature with Dictator “Captain” McAuley at the helm.

The “RFD” referred to in the Senior Army Management Report is the Reserve Forces Decoration (RFD) that McAuley has used as a post nominal as late as 2008 It appears he conned his way into being issued that medal until he was found out. He was sent a letter from Honours and Awards demanding the return of the RFD for destruction in February 2004, he had not returned it as at April 2009.

McAuley also “conned” from Honours and Awards an Australian Active Service Medal (AASM) with East Timor clasp. Following an audit by Honours and Awards he was found to be not eligible for the medal and it was cancelled on cancellation schedule 287/05, and he was ordered to return the medal - which he did on 10 Feb 2005.

More McAuley information from military senior management

“I have formed the opinion that Bill McAuley is either a borderline personality or a workplace psychopath. I know that Bill has a 'Walter Mitty' view that he is right and its only the rest of the world that is out of step. He is a bully when it comes to dealing with women and those he can fool with his airs of superiority. He craves attention and desperately wants to be a Major (the lowest rank he would be entitled to use followed by (rtd)), and any other post nominal he can confer upon himself”.

McAuley uses the title Captain to indicate he is a retired Defence Force Officer.  Only retired Navy Captains have the privilege of using that title. McAuley is well known for alluding to his Navy service when using the title “Captain”.  McAuley failed as a Navy officer and resigned his commission after eight months of which six months was spent at shore bases and two months “Under Training” on board HMAS Supply. He held the rank of Lieutenant but was never qualified for the rank.  His service as a part time Army Officer was also flawed and he never completed examinations for his rank. His Army commission was terminated by Army Management.

According to all evidence to hand McAuley was a very poor example of an officer of the Australian Defence Force and because of his skills as a con man and a bully has avoided confrontation until now.  For all of the reasons listed above we present William John Watson McAuley as a wannabe.

Update - William John Watson McAuley of Woomboota, Southern New South Wales

Further evidence that McAuley likes to “Dress up” and desperately wants to be seen as a returned serviceman is to hand.

Here is a new photograph of McAuley with a St John’s “bauble” around his neck which – in his mind – makes him a Knight of some play group or other, in addition, he is wearing couple of miniature medals one is the International Year of the Volunteer Medal the other UK Voluntary Medical Service Medal. Both of these are just pretend medals worn by poseurs,

The next photo is of medal ribbons that McAuley had stuck to the back window of his car so that people may recognize him as a returned Veteran. Which he is not.

The medals are a mixed bag as follows;

International Force East Timor:                             No entitlement

A civilian self purchased St John’s Medal:            Self purchased bauble

Defence Long Service Medal:                               No entitlement

Australian Defence Medal:                                    No entitlement

UK Voluntary Medical Service Medal:                   Self purchased bauble

International Medal of the Volunteer Medal:          Self purchased bauble

A study of McAuley’s very short failed Navy career and his long and ineffectual Army Reserve career shows that McAuley always wanted to be seen as a military veteran in the higher strata of society, but he never understood that it takes a lot of work and dedication to earn real medals. Attending dinners and smoking cigars is simply not enough.

Updated 31st Aug 2010

William John McAuley – Update – Society charmer.

In recent times McAuley has been spotted at a Toorak, Melbourne soiree wearing seven medals and what looks like a ribbon with no medal.  Before we cropped it, the photograph showed McAuley charming a group of Toorak belles with dulcet tones and his medals hanging out.

We make no claims about the dulcet tones, even though he is reported as having a lot to say about his Navy and Army “career”, however  we advise McAuley to stop wearing medals to which he has no entitlement and stop exaggerating his Navy and Military service.

McAuley has not earned the medals he wears and Melbourne society is well aware of his burning desire to be seen as a war Veteran and the recipient of numerous medals when in fact his Navy and Military Service were both less than auspicious and non medal producing.

McAuley’s antics will be observed and reported, until he learns that he is not welcome in ex Service circles wearing fake medals.

This is published in the public interest, particularly that of the Vietnam Veteran Community. All information presented here is fact and the truth. Reports from private citizens are supported by statements of fact and statutory declarations.

Case Notes:

Paul Warren McCarthy was born in Sydney in 1964, spent his youth in Sydney, Armidale and Rockhampton.  McCarthy has operated in those areas, as well as areas in South Brisbane, and tried to set up a Cadet Unit in Northern New South Wales. Also we must not forget Tara in South Western Queensland. extract of Police report here

 8 Jun 2008

In the ninety’s, McCarthy became linked with the Armidale Historical Unit Light Horse, but had an address in Woodridge, Queensland,  from which he operated a Cadet Unit under the name of the 12/16 Lighthorse Troop. This is in fact, a registered business, having been begun in 1993. association extract Office of Fair Trading, Queensland . McCarthy was refused re-admission to The Lighthorse Association, with whom he had been associated, in 1994 letter of expulsion here . The Lighthorse Association refuses to be recognized as affiliated with the cadet unit, and the 2nd Lighthorse Beenleigh Troop makes it clear that it is in no way associated with McCarthy’s cadet outfit newspaper article here .

The Armidale Lighthorse group, with which McCarthy was associated, were themselves, not associated with The Lighthorse Association, but they linked with McCarthy’s group to run a “military style” pony club, with McCarthy as the strict “military style commander.” extract of letter from Australian Light Horse Association

McCarthy has also been known to have registered the “Armidale Historical Unit Light Horse Cadets Alpha Company Incorporated” as a Queensland business Certificate of Incorporation . He has also been known to use the names “1st Logan Regiment, Australian Light Horse Cadets”, the “2nd Veresdale Regiment, Australian Lighthorse Cadets”, and “5th S.A. Regiment , Australian Light Horse Cadets.  . He has also recorded 6 Squadron, Yeronga ALHC list of Associations named

McCarthy has always been able to associate some of the parents of the cadets into “important” roles in the troop, using their involvement as a defence for his behaviour.

From this group, McCarthy took a large number of Cadets to a meeting on the Australia Day Weekend of 1992 to a property near Batlow, N.S.W. This troop included children aged from 8 years old to 17 years old. The language and treatment of the children by McCarthy and his “NCO’s [non-commissioned officers] brought a barrage of complaints from other adults attending the proceedings of the weekend, with McCarthy kicking children and using unsuitable language to them. His attitude of punishing an 8 y.o. girl brought him into argument, when he was forcing this young child to act out punishment at 11 PM at night.   McCarthy tried to force the children not to talk to other adults, for fear they may tell stories, like one 17 y.o. girl who complained that the second in command had had night time conversations with her on the subject of masturbation. witness statements here

McCarthy’s life has been perhaps interesting. In 1987 he owned and operated a security company in Rockhampton Qld., when he was convicted of assault and possession of handcuff offences police file here  .    In 1992, he fired a Mauser rifle in the area of Marsden Qld., whilst showing children that the rifle was “capable of killing.”  . He was convicted of firearms possessions, and his licence to carry firearms was rebuked.  He did not need the licence for his security position anyway, since he had lost that licence in 1990 because he was of “unsuitable fame and character.”  . He had threatened to shoot his de facto wife on that occasion. The police report shown here should be read in full as it characterizes the dangerous nature of McCarthy and reiterates the fact that this person should have no dealings with children of any age.  In 1995, he faced charges of Passport offences, having signed a passport whilst posing as an Army Officer. He was charged with unauthorized use of emblems of rank  newspaper reports here . McCarthy has also been convicted with use of Army Insignia. He also uses copies of Army-like number plates, #92 11278 number plates.

This brave man once gave his employment as a jockey occupation details on Police Child Exploitation sheet , however, he also was also convicted of cruelty by starving his own horses. In 1995, he was charged with such by the RSPCA for treatment to his 10 horses.  McCarthy blamed the drought for his registered pacers having to eat tree bark newspaper article on animal cruelty .

McCarthy became a born-again Christian, but was asked to leave when it was found he was getting too friendly with the children.  At another time and another group, he was asked to leave because he was extracting sexual favours from a woman who attended the group for counseling.   as indicated and parents should be warned to keep children away from this person and seek reputable, Army approved, authorized and run cadet Units for their children to attend. If unsure of the cadet unit your child is attending a phone call to the nearest Army barracks can confirm if the unit is legitimate or not..

He has been married once extract of Police statement  , however, he leaves a trail of five de facto’s behind him, most of whom have complained of assault    extract of Police report here         McCarthy promoted himself to the rank of Lieutenant with his Woodridge Cadets at “Romany Barracks”, having various other ranks of women and men to assist him with his troop.  In 1992, McCarthy was charged after a “field trip” to a block of land he owned at Tara, because he washed an 11 y.o. girl with  kerosene to rid her of ticks. He totally undressed this child and washed between her legs, despite the presence of a number of women trying to do the task extract of Police report here  . McCarthy was released because the case was faulted through a technicality of the evidence. The magistrate stated that he believed McCarthy guilty of the action, although he had to release him on technicalities newspaper article .

McCarthy lost an association he had with The Lighthorse Association Ltd., in 1994,  Lighthorse Association letter here. They advised McCarthy that they did not feel that children 6-17 y.o.  should be dressed with military attire, and slouch hats with plumes. They advised that they knew of his “commanding officer” status and advised their knowledge that his unit did not contain a “superior officer”.  McCarthy's cadet unit also does not have the approval of the Australian Army or a Army recognized/authorized cadet officer who is answerable to the Defence Force for the training of military cadets.

McCarthy has registered a business incorporated in Brisbane to which he attaches Australian Regular Army connotations, uniforms, assumed discipline and ritual. He has used Army rank and logos out of context and allays to have just privilege for their use.  His use of military uniforms, rank insignia and military badges/crests/equipment is totally illegal.

Paul Warren McCarthy makes parents of the children whom he conducts as a “cadet unit” affiliate with him, giving them positions so that they do not recognize the danger that he poses to those children. He uses “lieutenants” who have often been recognized with problems in their dealings with children.

One of his former cohorts was convicted of offences against children, and another of those cohorts is currently serving time for paedophile activities, as well as for incestuous activity. These cohorts will most likely deserve their own page on this site and will be treated on their own merits here at CPMH at a later date.

Promotion for McCarthy came at his own behest and timing, and he was into cadet meetings in the South East corner of Brisbane, although Captain McCarthy did venture to Griffith N.S.W. before continuing in the south of Brisbane area.

McCarthy appeared on A Current Affair in 1999 and tried to scare the legal words out of those who spoke against him, with one of his Lieutenants, who also claimed to be a legal document server, as his legal advisor letter of demand . He, too, is currently under scrutiny from CPMH for wearing medals and decorations he is not entitled to.  There will soon be a page dedicated to this person also.

Timor was a major event for McCarthy and some of his cohorts.

McCarthy decided that he could become a self-made hero if he took some of his cadets to West Timor to hand out medical supplies, and to request/beg supplies and money from Australian societies. It is amazing that those societies were prepared to assist with the opposition that the area posed to those serving ARA [Australian Regular Army] troops.

McCarthy, then a self-promoted “Major” also made the A Current Affair program in response to the complaints of some minors whom he had sent "on duty” in West Timor. It should be noted here that McCarthy took the children to the west side (Indonesia) of Timor, at a time when Australian troops had been activated in East Timor on a Peace-keeping/enforcing mission. This mission involved Australian troops patrolling the eastern side of Timor, carrying live ammunition, and in a state of readiness to return fire if attacked by militants from the western side of Timor, where McCarthy had taken the children. The following is from a person he had recruited for so called employment in Timor, and who were admitted as a cadet after their selection to McCarthy's bogus and dangerous program in West Timor.    Please read the whole statement and you will then gather a better insight to the non caring nature of Paul McCarthy and his cohorts for the welfare of people in his charge. Not only did he take people to the wrong side of the border, he forced them to wear a uniform that could well have seen injury or death afforded to these children. statement by a "recruited" volunteer

For this "Aid" purpose, a new section of his cadet corps was formed called the Overseas Community Aid.   A department claimed to be of the “Department of Australian Light Horse Cadets Inc (A.L.H.C.F.O.C.A.) As per the statement shown above the children involved were "recruited" and "trained" to be qualified medical representatives, with the course commencing on 27 February 2001 and they appear to be fully qualified and "in Country" [West Timor] on 14 March.  However, read on in the following statement by "Major" Paul McCarthy where he states that the two new medical representatives are "experienced" in overseas trips/postings. programme for team 6 . With this title, the cadet unit made a number of trips to West Timor with cadets travelling in civilian clothes and then becoming uniformed in Australian/American  type uniform, as worn by the Peacekeeping troops in East Timor when they got to Denpasar, an action that placed those cadets in threat of action from Indonesian military or Indonesian authorities.

McCarthy took the right on himself to make contact with the Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia, arranging visas for the cadets and requesting special treatment for them in their movements  . When one of the cadets had Visa problems, McCarthy had no problems in writing a note to the Konsulat R.I. [Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia], Greg Vickery, requesting that he sort the problem out, in March 2001. He signed the note “Paul. X Thank You.” McCarthy letter to Indon Consulate .

McCarthy took another title at this time, in that he became the Senior Medical Officer for the Cadet troop, and he sought assistance from cadets who were promoted to the unofficial and unauthorized status of medical aides. It appears for such a promotion, you do not need further medical knowledge, just the assumed status.

It was with this Overseas Community Aid agenda that he had recruited two of the cadets who caused McCarthy to star in the 2001 program of A Current Affair. That recruitment had taken place through the Crestmead [a southern Brisbane suburb] Community Association Inc  . This association assisted with 3 persons who were accepted as cadets after their acceptance. This association was also required to raise funds towards the airfares for these persons  .

These youths were advised that they would be issuing medical drugs in West Timor, and were required to carry as hands luggage, items of medicines and vials, assumed to be medicines. These supplies would contain cold & flu tablets, aspirin and various other medications, which was somewhat surprising, since McCarthy, the “Co-Ordinator Food and Medical” , had advised that removal to West Timor had to be hastened due to “an outbreak of Malaria and Dysentery.” Malaria and Dysentery advice letter .

Upon arrival in West Timor, these youth handed the “hand-luggage” medicines to their superiors, along with envelopes containing money.

Here again, McCarthy broke the law, by issuing Australian Light Horse Cadets Regimental ID Cards for these cadets, by placing a copy of the official ADD [Australian Defence Department] “Rising Sun” on the documents, along with the advice of duty stating; “Medical Corps.” The unprofessional manner in the way McCarthy conducts himself can be plainly seen here where a supposed "Official" Identity Card is hand written for a member travelling overseas on duty. Identity Card here.      Some concern here was indicated by the Department of Defence about the use of Military badges but again one has to ask the question why charges for this have never been brought against McCarthy or his bogus cadet organisation.

At this time, a “begging letter” was sent to societies and businesses, stating that McCarthy was leading a troop of cadets to Kupang, West Timor, administering to the West Timor camps. This document  stated that: “Captain McCarthy is the senior medical officer, overseeing 6 West Timor camps, and is responsible for 1485 families.”  McCarthy had also created a website, asking for assistance for his “official” aid programme. Since being exposed on Australian National Television this site is now closed.  CPMH managed to capture the site the day after the TV interview but was not quite quick enough to capture the images.  He must have been working very fast to close it down. Timor Aid site here

McCarthy’s troop also was aware that they had to cause an end to the Timor Crisis, because this document exhorted: “To ensure that this crisis is not long-term it is important that infrastructure be rebuilt enabling the East Timorese refugees to return to their homes in safety.” Of course this unenlightened advice exhorted towards money to build either East or West Timor.

McCarthy’s cadets were issued with instructions for their visit that included time allowed to start a game of soccer to get the Timorese children to trust them, and allowed time for such contact for a number of days. It also advised that they would wear certain uniforms that included “your fatigue pants [a like reproduction of the Australian Army disruptive pattern trousers worn by troops in East Timor], boots and your medical T – Shirt & hat.” These were for use at “Camp Kesenian.” He advised their attitudes, remarking that they were both experienced in overseas trips (postings). . That advice was signed “Regards…   Major Paul McCarthy. SENIOR MEDICAL CORPS- ALHC.” here

The United Nations Transitional Authority in East Timor put out a security warning regarding McCarthy advising both East and West Timor of the suspected entry of McCarthy into the area. It advised that he illegally wore Army uniforms and had raised the ALHA cadet unit in Australia, however, that unit was not sanctioned by the ARA [Australian Regular Army] Cadets.

This advice stated that no member of the UNAET was to render this individual any assistance at all, and that it should be recognized that this individual was able to create potential damage, posing as an ARA [Australian Regular Army] person being in West Timor, an area out of duty of the Australian Army Peacekeeping Forces.  Hence, whilst Australian Regular Army Forces were at combat readiness in East Timor, McCarthy breached their security by having his cadets in Australian Army uniform, working in West Timor, an opposing territory. United Nations Security Warning

Two cadets who had gone to West Timor with McCarthy appeared on A Current Affair in 2001, complaining of the threat to their integrity posed by the rigid instructions that they wear uniform in a hostile environment. These youths were advised by the Army and Police not to wear their uniforms as it was dangerous, however, McCarthy continued to insist they wore Australian Army style uniforms in West Timor again indicating McCarthy's unsavoury attitude for the welfare of children entrusted to his care. section of cadet statement .

In that programme, one person interviewed stated that McCarthy was interested in instructing children to use and discharge  firearms, no matter the age of the children, and no matter the type of firearm.

McCarthy had thought that he had planned well. He supplied one girl cadet a letter for her employer, advising that she would be employed as a medical aid in the East Nusa Tenggara Timor region. It relates her posting with the cadet unit, adding that the cadet unit “is the only active serving unit in the West Timor Region.” [West Timor was a restricted area of no access to Australian personnel and could create hostilities if confronted with Indonesian led troops]  .  This letter noted the employer’s ability to allow the trip and also exhorted more assistance in the way of “aid.” Letter to employer here

The cadets who went on this trip, found a newspaper report that the aid program had finished, even before they had left Brisbane. extract of statement here .

Those youths felt that before they had left Australia, at an information session, McCarthy had continually made references to the way things were done in Timor in the form of Army and military circles. extract of statement .

Those cadets also found that they were required to pay back-rent in their place of residence. They found out, only too well, about McCarthy’s failure to pay bills and wages, although he had requested monies from sponsors in Australia  . According to facts they gave, these youths felt they were never given a correct and legal agenda of employment  , and they felt that their security was endangered, by appearing in “Australian like” pattern uniforms in the Western side of the Timorese border. statement about rent and wearing of uniforms

Paul Warren McCarthy had made himself a hero at great expense to others, and at a great threat to ADF personnel. He had defrauded in military claims, visa claims and claims of being a Medically trained person.  making statements of being medically trained caused great distress to the International Red Cross Organisation, however to this date it would appear that no action has been taken by them to pursue or charge McCarthy for falsifying his medical qualifications.   It is amazing that to this time, the Federal Government agencies have watched on, without taking any form of action against his illegal use of uniforms, rank and status, and operating on the “hot” side of the Timor border.  One wonders if war had been declared if McCarthy would have been classed as a traitor for operating on the wrong side of the "fence".

McCarthy came home from Timor, claiming hero status. He claimed that he had been given a “Governor’s Award”, despite the security risks that he posed to Australian and UN forces. He claimed this for saving the life of a 1 yr. old boy, whose life he supposedly had saved from his fictitious medical and Army training,  of which he has none. newspaper article here

McCarthy appears to be very forthright, however, one wonders if his contacts are his protection, since he has continually broken laws relative to military uniforms, rank and insignia, he has continually played with laws relative to consular activities, and no Federal action has been put to him.   He is also listed in police reports as a possible paedophile.  This is not a favourable background for a man involved with children in a cadet unit.......especially a non military approved unit.

From his suspect service in Timor, McCarthy gave himself further military rank, and wore a Timor medal before they were distributed. He is NOT ENTITLED to wear any military medals for which he claims the right of wearing on his left breast.   This act also is a chargeable federal offence against the Defence Act. McCarthy in uniform with unauthorised medals   A list of the medals McCarthy wears is shown at the end of this page.

In 2000, McCarthy visited the local newspaper printers for Logan in Southern Brisbane, demanding attention and response to his demands.McCarthy claimed that he was the current Federal Member for Forde, and eventually punched the reporter who did not pay him enough attention. The REAL Federal Member for Forde, Mrs. Kay Elson found this out when she was approached regarding charges of assault about to be laid on the “member.”

Mrs. Elson is a Liberal Member who has a strong affiliation with the veteran community, and who would never make such demands. CPMH is aware that McCarthy is a current member of the National Party of Australia, and possibly may be claiming or using their help to make such claims.  has McCarthy received political assistance to avoid federal charges relating to his activities?  Only time will tell after relevant parties read this story on the internet.

McCarthy has a consistent form of “modus operandi”. He moves into an area, contacting school officials so that he can get them to approach parents and their children for him. Then he affiliates with the parents, promoting them to positions where he hopes they will not be able to watch his activities too closely.  McCarthy has formerly actively campaigned for children from 6 to 17. see newspaper advertisement here    Is there a hidden adjenda here?   A police report shown on these pages alludes to paedophilia and it is a known fact that one of his "lieutenants is currently in jail for assaulting children and incest.

This is the protocol which he used prior to the last Federal Election in 2001, in the towns of Albury and Wodonga, however, when he found that his background was to be checked, he disappeared from the region.

If McCarthy, or his cohorts, approach a school or school officials near you, wanting to set up a “cadet unit” for the local children, be advised that he has NO affiliation with any part of the  Australian Defence Organisation, or the Australian Light Horse Association and that he will pray upon those children and adults who become involved.  Your best defence against this person is to immediately contact your local police and refer them to this site to see all the information displayed on his modus operandi.  Protect your children and do this immediately he invades your neighbourhood and schools.

This man has a strong police profile as shown on these pages and any person or section of the community approached by him may be in immediate danger. he holds no qualifications to conduct a cadet unit and is not qualified to instruct anyone in any form of military training.  You have seen here what he does with weapons and is not, by law, able to obtain a weapons licence.  Treat him with prejudiced contempt and notify Police or Defence Department officials in your local area of his activities immediately you become aware of his existence in your neighbourhood.

McCarthy proudly wears the following medals on his left breast.

The South African War Service medal

The Cadet Forces Medal

Efficiency Decoration

and not shown in the photograph of him on the site, The Timor medal.

The wearing of these medals is a federal offence against the Defence Act.

Paul Warren McCarthy is a fraud and is not entitled to any medals at all.

Paul Warren McCarthy is a fraud who has no entitlement to wear the a uniform, badges of rank, or any form of Military identification that can associate him with any part of the Australian Defence Force.

Paul Warren McCarthy has never been a serving regular member of the Australian Defence Force.

Paul Warren McCarthy is a fraud who holds no qualifications to conduct any form of Military training for children wishing to belong to the Australian Defence Force Cadet Corps.

Paul Warren McCarthy is not sanctioned or authorised by the Defence Force to conduct any form of military type training for minors.

Paul Warren McCarthy is not a qualified medical practitioner and was therefore in contravention of the International Red Cross by practicing, unqualified,  in West Timor.  It is believed that the International Red Cross is conducting its own investigation into his activities, from which charges should be laid.

Parents of children who express a keen interest to be a part of the Australian cadet corps can call any Military Barracks for information on their nearest, Military approved, cadet unit.  CPMH encourages all parents to make this call and to then enroll your child/children in an approved cadet unit.   Not only is the cadet unit a good learning environment for your children but it may also give them an insight into a good life long career of which several outstanding Generals and later state Governors have evolved from.   A career in the Defence Force can stem from this first initial contact and your child can later in life say that he proudly served this nation and it all began from being a cadet in a properly organised and approved Military Cadet unit.

Parents of children wishing to join an authorized cadet unit should remain alert to the activities of this person.  He can and will appear in any area without warning and attempt to have you believe that he is genuine.   According to all reports shown here on this page this person and those that associate with him and his bogus cadet corps should not be considered as people who should be around children.    Read between the lines and see if you can see a hidden adjenda for his wanting to be with children.  This person does not hold regular employment but appears to dedicate his life to being with children.........your children, who deserve your protection from the likes of people like Paul Warren McCarthy who prey on their vulnerability to believe the lies that he teaches them in his cadet unit.

See here for more information relating to McCarthy and his activities.

See here legal threat made by McCarthy to The Australian Light Horse Association and their answer to him.   It should be noted here that the threat of legal action is made by one of McCarthy's Lieutenants.  This person is a genuine Viet Nam Veteran also wearing medals he has no entitlement to and will appear on his own page on CPMH soon. here  Being a genuine Veteran CPMH is offering him the chance to contact us with an explanation of his bogus medals once he is informed that he is on the site in association with McCarthy.

See here for Police Correspondence regarding McCarthy's activities

Judge for yourself if this is a responsible person that should have access to your children in his cadet unit or if he should ever be allowed to own a weapon again.

Those persons who have served their country in either war-like or peace keeping activity role learn a common bond, and they would always be prepared to do their duty for their Country.

This role extends to the people of the Nation, in that, Veterans were/are prepared to fight to ensure the safety and freedom of those who earn or deserve that freedom.

Veterans generally, will not accept that children should be dumped on, as that is what they have been prepared to suppress.  Persons who carry out such actions become another enemy to those men, and they can expect the force of Veterans to retaliate to  them whenever possible.

Similarly, the members of ANZMI will not accept such activity as any form of proper behavior and will, with a tenacity, work to stamp out any  such person from claiming any form of assumed Veteran status or affiliation with the proper Australian Defence Organization.

To that aim, ANZMI will continue investigations relevant to false claims of military allegiance into the cohorts and supporters of this Wannabe, Paul Warren McCarthy.

Paul Warren McCarthy

McCarthy is still playing around the edges of the Australian Defence Force. His latest Peccadillo was to pretend he was an ex Navy Cook with fifteen years experience and get himself employed on the recent joint Australian, United States Military Exercise, “Talisman Saber” in the Shoalwater Bay area of Queensland.

He was employed as a Civilian Cook, by a subcontracting firm however McCarthy true to form was just pretending, and if you are a “crook Cook” then proof of the pudding is in the eating.  McCarthy as a Cook was incompetent.

A quick investigation by Exercise security services soon revealed McCarthy’s less than salubrious past and he was removed from Defence Force land and sacked by the civilian sub contractor.

McCarthy is a walking disaster who likes to hang around uniforms.  He has a history of Con man activities. It would be better for him and everyone else if he would simply drift into obscurity and try and find an honest occupation commensurate with his skills.

Justin McFarlane aka MacFarlane of Southbank, Melbourne, Victoria, may have moved to Bendigo. He claims to have served in the Australian Army during the 1990’s and carried out missions and training with the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SASR).

As you can see below, he has publicly stated that he served in the SAS and he has bragged about his exploits.

Below is an insert from the above page.

We hold statutory declarations of claims that he has made to people over time, which you can see listed below;

1. He was a member of SASR and trained with the Regiment at Swanbourne in Perth, Western Australia.

2. He was beaten on the legs with a rubber mallet when undergoing anti interrogation training at Swan Island military base in Queenscliffe, Victoria when he was trying to get away from his interrogator.

3. He kidnapped Prime Minister Paul Keating to prove the weakness in security at the Lodge, and drove him around Brindabella Ranges in the boot of a car as part of an SAS exercise.

4. He emphasised that he had authorised and run the operation for the SAS and personally apologised to Paul Keating after the ordeal, in which they blindfolded Paul Keating and took him by vehicle to a distant location prior to releasing him.

5. He served in the Middle East, including the Golan Heights in Israel.

6. That as an SAS sniper, he had Saddam Hussein in the cross-hairs of his sniper rifle but did not shoot him due to  political differences between Russia and the United States of America during the first Gulf War.

7. Claimed to have served in Somalia and Rwanda.

8. He had to comfort the families of Australian Soldiers who passed away during combat.

Justin McFarlane was obviously found out and changed his name to MacFarlane.  He makes no mention of serving in the SAS as can be seen in the post below at the following link.

Justin McFarlane is an outright wannabe who has tried to impress people by telling lies about having served with an elite unit of the Australian Army.  These honourable SAS servicemen have been awarded numerous gallantry awards including two Victoria Crosses for Australia.

McFarlane has never served in the Australian Defence Force.

Justin McFarlane, you have by telling your lies of being a returned serviceman committed an offence under the Defence Act 1903 as amended

80A Falsely representing to be returned soldier, sailor or airman

(1) A person is guilty of an offence if:

(a) the person represents himself or herself to be a returned
soldier, sailor or airman; and

(b) the representation is false.

Penalty: 30 penalty units or imprisonment for 6 months, or both.

(2) For the purposes of this section:

(a) returned soldier means a person who has served abroad

member of the Military Forces of any ally of Great Britain;

(b) returned sailor means a person who has served abroad

during any war as a member of any Air Force, Air Service or
Flying Corps raised in Australia or in any other part of the
British Empire or as a member of the Air Forces of any ally
of Great Britain.

McGibbon Geoff

Geoff McGibbon is a Veteran in his own right, contrary to what you may have seen on television news at the time of his exposure, however, he is one of the ever growing number of genuine Veterans who are not satisfied with their actual service and have to inflate their ego and civilian positions in life by claiming war service that is not rightfully theirs.  Geoff is one of these people.  He was good with his masquerade, very good, as he fooled a lot of people in high profile positions.  This includes not only the Veteran community as a whole, but genuine members of the SAS, the unit he claimed he served in, in Viet Nam, and also politicians, high court judges, the Royal Life Saving Society [RLSS] of which he became Executive Director and members of the United States Veteran Community including a couple of their Medal of Honor winners.

Let Geoff McGibbon's story be a lesson for all Veteran Organisations to take heed of.  Always check the bonefides of those applying for membership to your organisation.   Do not accept copies of discharge certificates. Sight the genuine article and take a copy of it for your records and if necessary contact the Central Army Records Office for verification of service prior to finally accepting any application for membership of your organisation.

Geoff McGibbon's actual overseas service and decorations are shown below:

Army Service Period: 1962 - 1967
Corps: RAEME, as an electrician
Overseas service: June 1963 - June 1964 - Papua New Guinea,
June 1965 to December 1965, Sabah and Singapore, and
January 1966 to October 1967 he was back in New Guinea.

Active Service: Sabah from June 1965 to November 1965 [5 months]

SAS Service: Nil

Viet Nam Service: Nil

Decorations and Awards: General Service Medal 1962 with clasp Borneo,
Australian Active Service Medal with clasp Malaysia
Australian Service Medal with clasp PNG
In the near future he may be entitled to apply for the about to be released, Malaysian Government medal for service in Malaya during the Malayan emergency and Indonesian confrontation period.

All of the above information less the new Malaysian medal, would have been listed on his GENUINE Discharge Certificate or available from the Central Army Records Office.

There will be more on McGibbon shown here on the site as soon as we wade through the mountain of paperwork forwarded to us on him.  In the meantime go to the link below and you will see what the media have disclosed on this man after investigating his past, when awarded the Order of Australia medal in this years Honour list.  CPMH supplied the photos and information on his military service and his medals to the media and there are major errors in  reporting the story.  The reporter has cropped the photo and stated that McGibbon said  "he had never worn false medals".  Now after reading this story right through you will be taken to the media section  of the site and see the uncropped photo showing these medals on his chest.  By our reckoning he is falsely representing himself to be a returned serviceperson [Viet Nam] and wearing awards which have not been bestowed upon him.  Both are offences against the Defence Act carrying maximum penalties of 6 months in prison and/or $3300 in fines.  He is entitled to medals for his service in Malaya and Sabah as a RAEME Electrician.  Will the Federal Police again refuse our request to have this person prosecuted in accordance with the Defence Act for wearing the Viet Nam Medals?

The story of Geoff McGibbon, SAS Viet Nam Veteran unfolded on 6 Feb 2005 in the Australian media, both in newspapers and on television Australia wide.   CPMH has been aware of McGibbon's false Viet Nam service for a long time and was preparing a site entry to be released once all information had been confirmed as accurate.  It was coincidental that at the same time a newspaper reporter, who shall at this stage remain nameless, had seen McGibbon's name in this years Honours list and has made a feeble effort to search into his background.  He realised that it was possible that McGibbon was a bogus Veteran and emailed CPMH to see what we knew about him.   CPMH responded to his request and forwarded to him the information we had confirmed as being correct, thinking that the reporter would publish the truth.  Accompanying this was a photograph showing McGibbon wearing Vietnam medals and a SAS beret.   This photo was cropped by the reporter to suit his lies printed and televised across Australia.  His credibility as a news reporter on Veteran matters, as far as we are concerned is now shot, and anything he may print or relay to Television news in the future on Veteran matters will not be considered as true facts, but a distorting of facts to suit his own agenda.  Just what is the agenda in this case, well read on and see if you agree with us.

The following is the true story of Geoff McGibbon that should have been relayed to both the written and electronic media by this reporter.  These are the facts we provided.  We will distinguish clearly what was provided and what was reported and you, the readers, make up your mind about everything shown below.

Geoff McGibbon is a genuine Veteran of Malaya and Sabah.
Geoff McGibbon is not an SAS or Viet Nam Veteran and has no entitlement to wear either the SAS beret or Viet Nam service medals.
Geoff McGibbon was awarded the Order of Australia [OAM] for his services to the RLSS for his dedication to the society and there was no mention of his Military service in the application for him to receive this award.

Above are the facts.  We will now expand on these facts for our Veteran readers to fully understand what we see happening here and then you decide if you wish to follow the 'lead' of this reporter in his quest to attempt the removal of the OAM.

The reporter approached CPMH for information on McGibbon.  These facts and a photo were forwarded to the reporter.  He failed to respond to the information provided either to thank us for the information or to question it against what he was preparing to make public.  Instead he went off on his own tangent and as a consequence        published and broadcast lies to the Australian population.  After reading all these facts follow the link into the media section and you will see exactly how he reported this story to the newspapers.

The story that hit the television news had it that McGibbon is not a returned Veteran at all.  Another lie, as the information above on his overseas service was passed to this reporter and he changed it to suit his story, the same as he cropped the photograph supplied to again confirm with his distorted lies that McGibbon had never worn false medals.  These can be seen on his chest in the uncropped photograph also in our "Media Wall of Shame", that you will be directed to shortly.  To top off the story he relayed to the television audiences, he made the inference that because McGibbon was not a Veteran and that he was exposed for being a bogus Viet Nam SAS Veteran, that the Veteran community should rally and petition the government to have the OAM bestowed upon him rescinded.

Having seen this story on TV, CPMH received many emails from an outraged Veteran community saying they were going to petition the Government to have this award removed.  We emailed them back with the following and we ask that all of you reading these pages also consider this before you entertain the request of this reporter to email the Government asking for the OAM to be rescinded.

First let me reiterate the facts, the truth that has been omitted from this reporters story:

Geoff McGibbon is an SAS Vietnam Veteran fraud.  He has worn Viet Nam medals and claimed to have been in the SAS in Vietnam.  He had been approached by SAS personnel about this in the late 1980's however he continued to wear the medals up to 2003 that we can confirm at this stage.

Geoff McGibbon is a genuine Veteran in his own right.  Even though he has been found to wear medals he has no entitlement to, CPMH must stress the fact that he has service of which he should be proud of and satisfied with.  If he had claimed only this service then he would not have appeared on these pages.  However in his defence of the lies published in both newspapers and the television news reports, CPMH will back him on his genuine service.

CPMH also does not endorse the reporter in his quest to have the OAM rescinded because of McGibbon's bogus Viet Nam service.  The awarding of the OAM was done through the RLSS and has nothing to do with his Military Service either real or bogus.     We have it on good authority that the RLSS nominated him for this award for his outstanding service to this organisation of which he became an Executive Director and therefore the Veteran community should not support the rescinding of the OAM requested by the reporter based on his bogus Viet Nam service alone.  It is out of our ball park because he has never been charged or convicted of this.  However as a concerned citizen you could request its rescinding and also that he be charged with the bogus veteran offences.

This email below was sent to the reporter to see if we could find out exactly what his agenda was.  He failed to respond to our request so the email was forwarded a second time.  Again he failed to respond to us.  That email is reproduced below in full.  To date, 11 Feb 2005, there still has not been a response to this email.

This is the delivery receipt.  We know this reporter got our email.

I am forwarding this email to you again as the previous may have been lost in cyberspace.  If there is no reply to this by tonight I will consider that you are ignoring us for some reason as you were quick off the mark to request the initial information on the McGibbon story and our site will be amended to reflect the facts as they really are.
The site is viewed by thousands of serving and ex serving Military members, politicians, police etc. who need to know the truth as it really is.  Im sure that once they all read it, it will be passed amongst the community at large and they can all then make the decision on whether they should support the rescinding of the OAM as a concern of Veterans or not.
Its a pity you have severed communications after distorting the facts on this story as we could have supplied you with information on some very prominent people who are masquerading as Veterans that we are going to make public in the near future.

XXXXX, you contacted us for information on McGibbon and we forwarded off a lot of info for you to use.  You didn't have the courtesy to respond to any of the emails.  This story has now hit the airwaves right across the country and I would like answers to the following as soon as possible please.
We provided you with photographs clearly depicting Viet Nam medals on the chest of McGibbon.  You cropped this photo for the newspapers and then proceeded to add that "McGibbon said that he had never worn false medals".   Lies.  You had the photo but you printed this without referring to, or cropping the photo to show that he infact did have them on as well as the SAS beret.
On the nightly news service the report, and I can only assume that you must have had a hand in this as you are the reporter that got all the information from us, they stated that McGibbon has no Military Service at all.  Again a pack of lies as we forwarded to you his service record clearly showing he was in RAEME as an electrician and had served in Malaya and Borneo.  Again lies in the media as this man is a Veteran in his own right.  He just isn't a Viet nam Veteran.
Further to this you have manipulated the "Bogus Hero" story via the newspapers and the TV to aid you in a quest to have the OAM awarded to McGibbon rescinded and all the reports have asked that the Veteran community get behind this and lobby the government for its removal.  Why?  This OAM was sought by the Royal Life Saving Society, [RLSS], for deeds he has performed while being in this organisation.  I have it on very good authority that the RLSS made no mention of his Military service when requesting this award so why are you asking the Veteran community to support your quest to have this award removed when it was not initiated by them nor has it anything to do with them?  The organisation you should be lobbying is the RLSS.
We as CPMH have for years contacted the Federal Police to obtain convictions against the Defence Act for those who falsely represent service people and wear medals they are not legally entitled to wear.  We will again approach them on McGibbon.  If this had been done prior to your 'breaking story' and McGibbon had been charged and found guilty of this offence then he may well have had a conviction that could have stopped him getting the award of the OAM.  This still could not be supported by the Veteran community as a whole as the award is from the RLSS, but it might have shown a conviction that the Governor General, also a former SAS member could/may have used to reject the award. As the Federal Police fail to support Veteran request to have these charges laid and convictions recorded, the McGibbon file on our books has laid dormant for over 4 years, waiting for the time that the FEDPOL actually start supporting us and doing their job of charging them and then we will load them up with almost all the people that appear on our pages.
Since your story broke and Veterans have seen the lies about McGibbon's service in the papers and on TV, saying he is not a Veteran at all, we have received a huge amount of email.   Some of these stating that he is going to be removed from his RSL club.  Why?  He is a Veteran in his own right for Malaya and Borneo as we told you.  This man is going to suffer huge embarrassment for falsely claiming to be a Viet Nam Veteran, but do not strip him of what he has rightly earned.  That is only the work of an irresponsible reporter and I dont think you fit this mould.  Prove to us that you are good and retract all the lies and print the truth and give this man back a little of his honour that he deserves.  He is now down and there is no need to kick him in the guts on false and misleading information.
So in conclusion what was your real agenda with this story?  Was it to expose McGibbon as a bogus SAS Vietnam Veteran?  Was it to discredit him of the real service that we advised you about?   Was it to attempt support from the general Veteran community to assist you in removing an OAM that appears to have been genuinely awarded by the RLSS??  Do you have a grudge against the RLSS?
You have not replied to any other emails.  I would appreciate a reply to this one so we know what's going on.

So above you see the email forwarded to this reporter asking him to explain himself and what his intentions really were with this story.  During the period of time we waited for his reply we contacted a few people in Canberra where he resides and asked about his reporting of incidents that may be of interest to the Australian public, especially those to do with anything Military or on Veterans.  The response was nearly unanimous and basically says "Why let the truth get in the way of a good story".  To date, 11 Feb 2005, this reporter still has not answered our emails.   In response to this and all you have seen above you are now directed through the link below to the "Media Wall of Shame" area of the site.  Scroll down until you see the picture we supplied and the crop job done on this along with the lies that were printed in the media contrary to the correct information being supplied.  This story was obviously followed through to the television media by this reporter as he and he alone had all the information and projected his lies to them.  This false information was subsequently aired on every television news on 6 Feb 2005.   McGibbon may have masqueraded as a bogus Viet Nam Veteran and he has been exposed for this, however, he has genuine service to his credit and has been awarded an OAM by the RLSS for services to that organisation and the Veteran community, in our opinion, should not be manipulated by this reporter to try and remove an award that has nothing to do with his Military service, bogus or genuine.  If you wish to object to it do so as a concerned citizen but be careful with the use of bogus veteran as he has never been charged with the offences.  This needs to be rectified but the Federal Police will not listen to complaints about bogus veterans claiming service and medals.  This video footage is a distortion of the truth as presented to the television media.  Irrespective of what is said in this clip McGibbon is a Veteran.  See the video news coverage here

It is up to you to determine who is supplying the truth here and whether the Veteran community should object to the awarding of the OAM by the RLSS.

The basic bottom line of this story is Geoff McGibbon has been masquerading as a  SAS Viet Nam Veteran since the 1980's.  He has been exposed here on the site for this, however the lies depicted in the media need to be exposed as well.  Geoff McGibbon has genuine Veteran service and is therefore entitled to be a member of the ex service organisations and have the truth told about what was reported in the media.  It is our aim and intention to shown bogus activity to the Australian and New Zealand Veteran communities, but we will also protect genuine service, even if the member has overstepped the mark in the past.

We have tried in vain in the past to have all these bogus people charges with the relevant offences.   All requests have been refused by the Federal Police.  Maybe its time all Veterans reading these pages contact the Minister for Federal Police and ask the question, why?  If McGibbon had been charged and convicted it would add weight to the rescinding of this OAM.

Case Notes:

Mary McGuire nee Entwistle claims to be a fully qualified ex British Army Nursing Lieutenant. She claims to have served in both Malaysia and Vietnam whilst still a Lieutenant in the British Army and her work was classified as "TOP SECRET". In fact her service is so secret that she claims she was never issued with a nurse's Personal Identification Number [PIN] nor a military service number - issued to every single recruit in every armed service in the free world. Her mission, that she tells everyone about, was that in Malaysia and VietNam she was required to wash and embalm all the bodies of Australian and American KIA before they were shipped home. It is known that some, but not all bodies were embalmed prior to return to Australia and these were done not by Australian or 'British' personnel, but by a US Army unit in Saigon. There were no Australian or British personnel posted to this US unit.

CPMH has been in touch with several senior members of the medical staff from the VietNam era and it has been confirmed that few Australian bodies were embalmed for transport back to Australia and that there were no British military personnel employed in Viet Nam with Australian Army medical services.

A double check of Australian and British records can not identify any British nurses that served with the Australian, New Zealand or American forces in Vietnam so Mary McGuire's secret stories, as she tells them, must be true. She continues on further to tell one and all that her service was so secret that she has never been issued with medals nor is she able to access the Department of Veterans Affairs pension services. We have it on very good authority that she has also been turned down by Legacy.

When asked about the unit she served in and the period of time that she claims to have been in Vietnam she again states that she is unable to give out details due to the secrecy act that she signed. Unfortunately for Mary, this secrecy act, which after signing forbids any form of discussion about your work environment, is unable to stop her from verbally relating stories of her service and it is also unfortunate that she cannot disclose details of people, places and/or dates to verify her service. The other really unfortunate thing for Mary is that the 30 year secrecy act for the service she claims in VietNam is over and all serviceperson records are now available on public access through the British and Australian National Archives system. A thorough search of military records both here and in the UK have not been able to produce any evidence that Mary McGuire is even a registered nurse.

It is known that Mary has made claims around Burnie, Tasmania, that she is a fully qualified nurse and has even offered medical advice and treatment to unsuspecting people. It is also known that this advice, given to some, was incorrect. When the stories Mary relates are questioned and tend to get a little tough to handle, she will very quickly change the subject around to involve her father, who she states was a detective with Scotland Yard before being transferred to the New South Wales police force to "straighten it out". Mary should have taken the advice that was offered to her and stopped telling her stories, but it appears she, like most who are bogus, couldn't resist continuing on with them.

This caused her case to be referred to CPMH and after exhaustive research both in Australia and England we now have our first bogus nurse gracing the pages with all the bogus "secret service" SAS people. Not bad for a woman [who has no recorded military service or service address] who claims she can still be called up for "active" service. At her age

Archbishop Dr. Peter McInnes: C.J., O.S.B. Primate Hon. D.D., Hon. D.C.L., B. Th., Dip. Bus. (Admin & H.R.), Dip. Sport (Coach.), Dip T. & A.S., N.C.A.S., J.P. (Qual.)

ANZMI has the objective of exposing frauds, liars, cheats and wannabes in the Veteran community, the job is done without fear of favour and irrespective of position in society of the wannabe.

When Mao Tse Tung said “Religion is poison” we are sure he was talking about the kind that "Somalia and Cambodia Veteran" Archbishop “Commander” Peter McInnes dispenses to his unsuspecting flock in the Beenleigh area of Brisbane, Queensland. We are reliably advised that he has a profane tongue that can spit out very “blue” words and a very quick and bombastic temper that he uses against those who question his methods or “wisdom”. He has been know to say “Who do you think they will believe, a Bishop, or you a lowly tradesman” ? This behaviour is text book wannabe behaviour.

The reason we have exposed McInnes is because, as well as being an Archbishop of a schismatic church who wears false medal ribbons on his Archbishop vestments, he likes to be associated with matters Naval and Military, on occasion he wears the uniform of a Navy Commander and also claims to have served with the Australian Army in Somalia and Cambodia.

In the photo above, notice on his right side he is wearing World War 2 ribbons, which were perhaps issued to a relative, however it is unfortunate that he has attached them the wrong way around.

On his left breast he is wearing four medal ribbons, we believe these represent:
    1. Dutch War Service 50th Anniversary Medal.
    2. Voluntary Service Medal.
    3. Far East Strategic Service Medal
    4. Centenary Medal
He is not listed on the official web site “Its an Honour” as having been issued the Centenary medal, so like the other three medals it is a self purchased medal being fraudulently worn.

McInne’s church the Anglican Independent Communion is a schismatic entity that has separated from the traditional Church of England, it is a recognised religious group and of course receives hand outs from us taxpayers. McInnes runs the church in Queensland and does all the things an Archbishop would do including conducting marriage ceremonies.

On one occasion he “spliced” a pretend Navy Admiral whilst McInnes was wearing a pretend Navy Commanders uniform.  The “Admiral” he performed the marriage ceremony for was none other than Rear Admiral, Sir Peter Lapko, KMC KIOM GNSOC (whatever all that means)  of the Australian Navy Brigade with a “Knighthood” from the Comic Opera, Hutt River Province of Western Australia. We assume that McInnes feels that he can wear the uniform of a senior Naval Officer because he claims to be the Chaplain of the pretend sailors of the Australian Navy Brigade.   See below, Lapko wearing his glorious Rear Admiral's uniform. Also shown is his much presented Calling Card.

It is of interest that “Rear Admiral Sir” Peter Lapko is ex 58808 Private Petro Lapko who served in Vietnam with 5th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment in 1966/1967 and never in his life served in the Royal Australian Navy.  We are reliably advised that when Lapko visited a Far North Queensland RSL some years ago he insisted on being address as “Sir Peter” or just plain “Sir”. In addition, on a ceremonial occasion in Cairns he laid a wreath in his Navy Rear Admiral's uniform.  Seems like he is well and truly lost in a europhic fog of self adoration, based on false rank and a false title.

Back to the “Archbishop” – We have Statutory Declarations from genuine Veterans declaring that McInnes has told them directly that he served with the Australian Army in Somalia and Cambodia.  We hold the nominal rolls for both areas of operation and McInnes is not shown. He is a liar and a wannabe, which are not the best of situations for an “Archbishop” to be in.

In a resume` found here http://aicaustralia.com/index.php?page=clergy  McInnes says “At the suggestion of family and Mal Lomax I joined the military at 17 and served in various locations”.The “Various locations” he mentions were only in Northern Tasmania where he was a member of an Army Reserve Transport unit for a very short time.

In the wedding photograph, McInnes is wearing the rank of a Royal Australian Navy Commander on the basis that he was a Chaplain in the Navy. Unfortunately the only Navy he relates to is the pretend “Australian Navy Brigade”. In any case Navy Chaplains do not wear rank at all, as detailed below:

“Like chaplains in the Australian Army and RAAF, Royal Australian Navy (RAN) chaplains are commissioned officers and wear the uniform of a RAN officer, but like chaplains in the British Royal Navy (RN) they do not wear a rank. Rather they wear the same cross and anchor emblem worn by RN chaplains on their shoulder rank slides and do not have gold braided rings or executive loops on their winter sleeve coat or summer shoulder boards”.

Even if McInnes was a genuine Navy Chaplain (which he is not)as a Chaplain he has no entitlement to wear the rank of a RAN Commander and by doing so he adds another chapter to his offences as a wannabe, which are:

  1. Claims to have served with the Australian Army in Somalia and Cambodia – A lie.
  2. Wears false medals on his church regalia – The act of a wannabe.
  3. Wears the uniform and rank of an RAN Commander – The act of a wannabe.

McInnes is supposed to represent all that is good about human beings in his role as a senior church officer, when in fact he is a fraud, a liar, a cheat, and a wannabe. He offends veterans and he offends those with Christian ideals.

After reading what we have said, would you kiss this Archbishop’s ring as a sign of respect?

Update - Archbishop Peter McInnes
McInnes has used up all his credits in the Veteran community and he is now persona non grata.

How many times need we say that if you are a wannabe you will be caught and exposed just like McInnes has been by us, and followed up by the Brisbane Sunday Mail newspaper  .

Notice that McInnes admitted to the newspaper that his only Military Service “was with the Army Reserve in Tasmania” We have Statutory Declarations stating that McInnes has lied to genuine Veterans with claims that he served in Cambodia and Somalia. Below is another photograph of McInnes in a Navy uniform playing at being a Navy Officer.

ANZMI and the Sunday Mail have reported McInnes as a military wannabe.  Dishonesty of this kind is not conducive to instilling confidence among his “flock” from his schismatic Church of England.

McInnes is quoted as saying:    “I ask not to be judged solely on this issue, but to be considered for all the volunteer work I do in the community and not just the past”. We are reliably advised that McInnes does volunteer work, as one of the Work for the Dole schemes. So his volunteer work is really self serving rather than charitable.  It is for sure and certain that he would never get a paid Archbishops job in a mainstream church.

We also assert that being an “Archbishop” is just another chance for McInnes to play dress up and pretend he is something that he is not.

Some free advice for McInnes – Get a job, stop playing dress ups, stop telling lies, and stop swearing at people. - Amen
