Geoffrey Russell Lecher, Narooma Medal Cheat

Lecher has been big noting himself around Narooma for years with innuendo of Vietnam Service and problems with the Department of Veterans Affairs mishandling his compensation “claims’.  Here is a photograph of Lecher taken at Narooma, he is wearing four medals.

He has no entitlement to wear the most important medal, the Australian Active Service Medal with clasp Malaya (first on the left) The second and third medals are legitimate and awarded for time served in the Citizens Military Forces.  The fourth is the National Service Commemorative medal. The guidelines for this medal have become very confused and  Defence Honours and Awards now adjudicates on individuals bona fides .  Lecher was never a National Serviceman but may be eligible by special dispensation because of his CMF service; in any case his main offence is falsely wearing the prestigious Australian Active Service Medal.

We have Lecher’s full Service Record and include an example below for the period 28 September 1960 to 15 July 1965.  He was discharged at “His own request” on 28 July 1966, and then re-enlisted in the Army Reserve on 6 Sep 1972. He then served on until 29 August 1988.

For those good citizens of Narooma who have been harassed and lied to by Geoffrey Russell Lecher please be advised that you have the last laugh because;

1.      Lecher has never been involved in operational or war service.

2.      He did not serve in Vietnam.

3.      He has never served in Malaya and has no entitlement to wear the Australian Active Service medal with clasp Malaya.

4.      Although he has a file with Department of Veterans Affairs he has no accepted disabilities resulting from any active military service.

Lecher had plenty of opportunity to serve in operational areas, all he had to do was enlist in the Australian Regular Army during the 1960s and request service in Vietnam, and he didn’t do it and chose to be discharged from the CMF [Citizens Military Force] during the Vietnam war and not re-enlist until it was all over.  Cheats like Lecher believe their lies will be concealed by elapsed time.  He is wrong, as are all frauds liars, cheats and wannabes who infest the Veteran community.
